Leading road safety campaigner Meera Naran MBE has joined Global NCAP as its first Advocacy Ambassador. In the new role, she will help champion Global NCAP’s mission to democratise vehicle safety, especially in Low and Middle Income Countries.
Ms. Naran is one of the most respected road safety advocates in the United Kingdom. She is the driving force behind Dev’s Law, the campaign to make a range of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies a standard requirement, launched after her eight-year-old son Dev was killed in a road crash in 2018.
Ms. Naran’s advocacy has helped shape the new UK Road Safety Strategy, published in January 2026 as the country’s first in over a decade, and in which the Government has pledged to include Dev’s Law.
Ms. Naran will be joining the Global NCAP delegation attending the UN High-Level Meeting in New York this week. The meeting marks the halfway point in the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety and brings together governments and senior representatives from the public and private sector in support of the UN’s road safety Global Goals.
