Blum has officially received the Bureau of Indian Standards License (BIS) Certification IS 18297:2023 for its cabinet hinges. The Austrian brand’s award-winning hinges already go through some of the toughest internal and external testing, making them in line with international standards and guidelines. One of their landmark testing cycles is the opening and closing cycles that go up to 200,000 per hinge, proving their durability and quality for everyday use. The use of the BIS Hallmark License is a testament to this quality.
Apart from this, Blum hinges, which now have Indian BIS Certificate, undergo a series of motion and load tests, including:
- Durability with additional 5 to 6 kg: Determines limit values for the hinge.
- Dynamic load test: With an additional vertical load of 20 kg for stimulating an unintended load.
- Abuse test: Horizontal load test to ensure the hinges can withstand misuse.
- Corrosion test: Based on DIN EN ISO 9227 and DIN EN ISO 6270-2 to stimulate corrosion influences.
- 30 kg static load test: Stimulating someone leaning on the door of a base cabinet at a 45° opening angle.
- A horizontal 70 N load test: Testing the adverse impact of unintentional or excessive opening of doors.
