“With the dark store model, we’re addressing long-standing inefficiencies in steel procurement. By decentralizing inventory and leveraging technology, we’re offering manufacturers a faster, more reliable alternative to traditional supply chains.” Vedant Goel, Director, Enlight Metals
Enlight Metals Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s fastest-growing metal aggregators, has announced the launch of its first 10 dark stores across key industrial hubs, introducing a bold new model for 24-hour steel delivery. The initiative aims to transform how steel is accessed by MSMEs, OEMs, contractors, and fabricators across India.
Currently operational in Pune and Mumbai, Enlight plans to expand to Aurangabad, Ahmedabad, Nashik, Nagpur, and select locations in Gujarat and Karnataka by the end of this financial year. These dark stores will act as hyperlocal fulfilment hubs, ensuring no customer is more than 24 hours away from critical material supply.
“With the dark store model, we’re addressing long-standing inefficiencies in steel procurement,” said Vedant Goel, Director, Enlight Metals. “By decentralizing inventory and leveraging technology, we’re offering manufacturers a faster, more reliable alternative to traditional supply chains.”
The stores will stock essential steel products including HR/CR coils and sheets, GP sheets, MS pipes, and TMT bars tailored to regional demand. Over time, offerings will expand to include solar structures, cable trays, and storage racks.
Unlike traditional distribution, Enlight’s model is built on AI-driven demand forecasting, GPS-based fleet tracking, and a 24/7 digital ordering interface via WhatsApp, web, and voice. This enables just-in-time deliveries, reduces working capital needs for buyers, and eliminates delays caused by mill backlogs or stock unavailability.
Notably, the company emphasizes that this service will not carry a premium. “Faster delivery should be the norm, not a luxury,” Mr. Goel added.
As the first player to introduce the dark store model to the steel sector, Enlight Metals is setting a new benchmark for speed, transparency, and reliability in a traditionally slow-moving industry. With plans for pan-India expansion over the next three years, the company is on track to build the largest distributed steel fulfilment network in the country.
