“This award reflects the confidence customers place in BorgWarner’s power electronics expertise and our ability to deliver innovative, high-performance electrification solutions. As automakers continue to expand their electric vehicle portfolios, we remain committed to helping them achieve greater efficiency, performance and scalability through advanced inverter technologies.” Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager, PowerDrive Systems
BorgWarner has secured a new award to supply its next-generation high-voltage traction inverter technology for future battery-electric vehicle programs from a major global automotive manufacturer. BorgWarner currently supplies inverter technology to the customer, and the new award extends this existing business to the customer’s next generation of electric vehicles. The award further strengthens BorgWarner’s position as a leading provider of advanced power electronics solutions for electric vehicles.
“This award reflects the confidence customers place in BorgWarner’s power electronics expertise and our ability to deliver innovative, high-performance electrification solutions,” said Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager, PowerDrive Systems. “As automakers continue to expand their electric vehicle portfolios, we remain committed to helping them achieve greater efficiency, performance and scalability through advanced inverter technologies.”
The high-voltage traction inverter converts the battery’s direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC) to power the electric motor. As a critical component of the electric drivetrain, the inverter plays a key role in vehicle efficiency, performance and overall energy management.
The new inverter platform incorporates BorgWarner’s latest power module technology and a simplified design architecture. Advanced manufacturing innovations and a compact system layout help optimize efficiency, while supporting cost competitiveness and improved packaging flexibility.
