“We are building a technology platform that can evolve with India’s requirements. Indian waters present unique challenges, including high turbidity, silt, low visibility and changing currents. Our focus is on miniaturising technology while advancing our systems’ intelligence, capability and deployability across defence, infrastructure and industrial applications.” Debendra Pradhan, Co-founder and CEO, Coratia Technologies.
“The Navy programme is an important milestone, but our work extends well beyond it. We continue to invest in autonomy, sensing, navigation, underwater perception and intervention capabilities. Our deep R&D focus enables us to develop solutions for the specific challenges of Indian waters and build products for demanding applications.” Biswajit Swain, Co-founder and CTO, Coratia Technologies
“Coratia is developing an indigenous underwater robotics capability with applications across defence, critical infrastructure and the wider maritime economy. Its engineering and R&D capabilities, combined with the potential to address complex underwater challenges, make it a compelling critical-technology business. Our follow-on investment re-instates our confidence in the team and its technology. We are proud to be a part of Coratia’s journey.” Raj Sethia, Founder and Managing Partner, MGF Kavachh
“Coratia is building differentiated capabilities in underwater robotics by combining strong engineering with a deep understanding of the challenges of operating in Indian waters. Since our initial investment, the company has continued to strengthen its technology platform and demonstrate its potential across defence and critical infrastructure. We believe this follow-on investment will help Coratia advance its R&D roadmap, scale deployment and unlock opportunities across a wider range of applications.” Vandana Swarup, Director – Investments, MGF Kavachh
Coratia Technologies, an Indian deep-tech company developing advanced underwater robotic systems, has raised ₹18 crore in a bridge round led by MGF Kavachh. The follow-on investment by MGF Kavachh reflects confidence in Coratia’s technology and growth potential. The funding will support execution of its ₹66 crore Indian Navy contract under the iDEX initiative, accelerating R&D on new products, advancing core underwater robotics capabilities and scaling manufacturing and deployment for defence and critical-infrastructure applications.
Earlier in 2025, Coratia had raised a total of ₹17 crore from MGF Kavachh, Piper and SIDBI in a Pre-Series A round.
Founded by Debendra Pradhan and Biswajit Swain, Coratia is building indigenous underwater robotic systems that combine advanced engineering with technology miniaturization to operate in challenging underwater environments. Its flagship Jalasimha UWROV has achieved Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL-9), providing a strong foundation for further product development and deployment.

Coratia’s clients and partners include the Indian Navy, Indian Oil, Indian Railways, Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited, Jindal Steel and Power, and NIT Rourkela amongst others.
Beyond defence, Coratia’s technology has applications across dams and reservoirs, ports, bridges, pipelines, offshore assets, ship infrastructure and subsea communication networks.
The opportunity is particularly relevant to India’s water infrastructure, with the Ministry of Jal Shakti targeting December 2026 for Comprehensive Dam Safety Evaluations of specified dams under the Dam Safety Act, 2021. Underwater robots equipped with cameras, sonar and other sensors can enable repeatable inspections of submerged structures, foundations, intake systems, spillways and gates, reducing the need to expose divers to hazardous conditions. They can also support post-flood assessments of submerged bridges, culverts, sluice gates and pipelines.
