Sandvik Coromant has announced the appointment of Atsushi Takei, currently Sales Cluster Manager for Japan Direct, who began the new role of Sales Cluster Manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) effective 1st April 2026. In the position, Mr. Takei will lead the regional sales organization across Southeast Asia and Oceania, working closely with local teams to align strategy, support customers and drive business growth across the region.
Mr. Takei joined Sandvik Coromant in 2004 as a mechanical engineering university graduate and has since built extensive experience in sales across the business. Since early 2019, he has been a sales cluster manager, contributing to the establishment of the East Japan Cluster and more recently over the past two years, leading Cluster Japan Direct.
Mr. Takei takes over from Manny Valenza, who has held the role since November 2016. During his time as Sales Cluster Manager, Valenza has played a key role in developing the SEAO cluster and strengthening Sandvik Coromant’s presence across the region.
Valenza will remain with the sales organization through mid-2026, helping ensure continuity and stability, before moving to a new role as a program lead within the Sandvik Coromant Academy, with a focus on competence development and equipping customers with technical training and machining knowledge.
“Takei brings solid expertise and experience to lead the sales team and drive business growth. I’m confident he will successfully lead the diverse SEAO team to the next level,” said Masahiro Yamamoto, General Manager for Sales Area Asia Pacific.
“The appointment of a Japanese manager to lead Sales in Southeast Asia and Oceania reflects our commitment to strengthening our presence in these rapidly growing markets,” added Yamamoto. “Japan has long been one of Sandvik Coromant’s most advanced and competitive markets.
“This experience gives us a unique advantage when exploring similar customer needs, productivity expectations and manufacturing maturity across the region. By bringing proven best practices into Southeast Asia and Oceania, we expect to further accelerate growth, improve customer experience and strengthen collaboration across APAC.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Takei said: “I’m honoured to take on this role and build on the strong foundation already in place across SEAO. I look forward to working closely with our teams to support our customers and continue developing the business across the region.”
