India’s rapid industrial transformation is driving an unprecedented surge in power demand. In a market accelerating at breakneck speed, achieving outsized growth requires readiness to power this transformation. As India accelerates its grid modernization and industrial expansion, Eaton India’s Electrical Business is scaling investments, enhancing localization and redefining power management. Along with capacity expansion, critical infrastructures now require systems that are intelligent, highly resilient and digitally secure. “At the center of this shift is Eaton India,” says Binod Muni, Managing Director – Electrical Business, Eaton India. In an exclusive interaction with Niranjan Mudholkar, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Manufacturing Frontier, held on the occasion of the ‘Eaton India Tech Day 2026’ in Pune recently, Mr. Muni outlined the company’s investment priorities, localization efforts and One Eaton approach to addressing customer and industry needs.

Scaling Up: Where the 6x Capex is Heading
Eaton has significantly increased investments in its electrical portfolio over the past five years to support growth and customer demand. Mr. Muni explained that the capital allocation has been designed to bolster core growth pillars across low-voltage (LV), medium-voltage (MV), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and the newly integrated industrial automation portfolio. “When you look at all the verticals of businesses for the electrical sector, we are primarily investing in all of them. The maximum investment is going into UPS, our expansive LV portfolio, and medium voltage. These segments are becoming increasingly important as customers focus on reliability, resilience and operational continuity,” he said. While legacy lines like Bussmann maintain a mature, steady run-rate, rapid expansion in digital infrastructure, data centres and advanced manufacturing demands heavy capital deployment in continuous power and power distribution architectures.

Driving Localization and ‘Make in India’
A key operational pillar for Eaton India is the transition from importing global technology to localizing engineering and production entirely within the country. A prime example highlighted during the discussion is Eaton’s RVAC Ring Main Unit portfolio, designed to support medium-voltage power distribution applications and address the requirements of the Indian market. Over the last 12 to 18 months, the solution continues to see adoption across utility and infrastructure applications in India.
Mr. Muni notes that as the affordability, awareness and technological appetite of Indian enterprises mature, Eaton is bridging the gap between global benchmarks and local market requirements. The company continues to expand its portfolio to serve a broad range of customer requirements across industries.

One Eaton: Unlocking Cross-Sector Synergies
Modern industrial installations, ranging from airports and metros to defence facilities and EV manufacturing plants, no longer procure isolated components. They seek end-to-end electrical architecture. “Eaton addresses this through its integrated “One Eaton” approach, linking power management seamlessly with electrical, GEIS, mobility, filtration, and aerospace segments,” says Mr. Muni. He explains that core industrial verticals cannot afford downtime. “The electrical business acts as the foundational backbone, ensuring uninterrupted uptime, digitalization, and operational safety. For mega projects with large industrial enterprises, Eaton leverages deliver complete turnkey solutions across the value chain,” he says.

Energy Transition: From Prosumers to Battery Storage
Commenting on India’s ambitious “Power for All” mission and clean energy targets, Mr. Muni observes a fundamental paradigm shift in how power is managed. “Earlier, people thought you generate power, and if you don’t consume it, you feed it back to the grid as a ‘prosumer’. Now the paradigm has shifted: you generate, and you must store.” To support India’s targeted 300–400 GW renewable pipeline, Eaton is actively rolling out integrated storage solutions tailored for metro stations, large commercial campuses, and heavy utility consumers pursuing net-zero targets. Further, the company has deepened its supply partnerships with major clean energy developers and is working with customers and partners across the clean-energy ecosystem to support renewable-energy integration and grid modernization.

Sustainability Meets Operational Cybersecurity
For Eaton, sustainability extends beyond achieving a net-zero badge; it is operationalized as “doing more with less”, as Mr. Muni puts it. Every product line rolling off Eaton’s factory floors is digitized to meet global sustainability benchmarks. However, Mr. Muni stresses that hyper-connected devices introduce distinct operational challenges like operational technology (OT) vulnerabilities. With energy platforms monitored around the clock, connected assets become prime vectors for cyber threats if left unguarded. Eaton bridges this divide by embedding vendor-agnostic cybersecurity software and OT-security-as-a-service directly into its power distribution stack, ensuring that green buildings and smart factories remain secure 24/7.
